Congratulations to the participants of this year's Washington Music Educators Association
Mount Pilchuck Region Solo/Ensemble Contest!
All of our participants received ratings of "Excellent" or "Superior" -- the TWO HIGHEST
RATINGS! We are also proud to send TWO of our participants to the State level competition,
happening April 24 and 25 at Central Washington University. Further, FIVE of our singers were
selected as alternates for the State competition! Be proud, Monroe!
Soup, Salad & Song - DATE CHANGE!
In order to facilitate performers who are singing in both the musical (Sound of Music) AND our
Soup, Salad & Song event, we have decided to change the dates of SSS. The new dates are:
Friday May 29 and Saturday May 30. We will remain on the three-performance schedule: one
on Friday evening and two on Saturday. Click the Soup, Salad & Song tab above for all you ever
wanted to know about this performance, including date changes for parent support meetings!

JAZZCATS: Ronald McDonald House, February 19th
Our trip to Ronald McDonald House has been rescheduled for Thursday,February 19, 2009.
The plans will stay the same as they would have been in December, but here’s a recap: we will
depart from MHS immediately after school. We are taking two district vans, one driven by myself
and one driven by Sara Lattimer, Josh Fagan’s mother. We will arrive at RMH around 3:30,
receive a tour and prepare for our performance. We’ll sing during their regularly-scheduled
dinner hour from 5:30 until 6:15 or so, then leave to treat ourselves to dinner at the Spaghetti
Factory in Seattle. Students are responsible for bringing their own money for dinner at the
Spaghetti Factory. I recommend about $20.
You will NOT need to sign a new permission slip for this event. We have written permission
from the administration to reschedule this event without filing new paperwork. Please contact
me regarding any questions or concerns you may have about this event.
